City breaks under 100 quid!

New York CityThe fine people at lastminute.com have collected some really good deals on city breaks, and they’ve put them all on one page: City breaks from £99

Their Top 10 list includes mostly European cities, but there is also Dubai and New York City. I know regular readers of this column have heard this before, but I highly recommend going to New York if you can. Sure, it’s more than £99 total, but with the exchange rate at the moment you can’t afford not to go! With the euro exchange rate being what it is, you’d have a hard time affording a bed in one of the Amsterdam hostels even if you stowed away on someone else’s comically large suitcase.

Ski vacations are on sale

Ski alpsThe fine people at Travel Horizon UK are looking out for us this winter with this great sale: Up to 50% off, and get your money back if there is no snow!

This is a pretty controversial offer, but something tells me it only counts for destinations that are nearly permanent glaciers. Still, it takes the risk out of booking a ski holiday, especially for those of us who don’t want to give up our beloved Range Rovers.

Go Card USA

go-usa-banner.jpgThe enormity of the United States can be overwhelming when you travel from one coast to another. The country seemingly goes on forever with one state following another until eventually, days later, you run out of land and encounter the sea wondering how so much territory could belong to one country.

Just like the land itself, the sites to see in the United States can be overwhelming. Where does one even start? New York City, Washington, DC, Florida, Vegas…the choices are many and so are the sites to see while you …

Don’t be Shanghaied by Airfare to Shanghai

shanghai-fluss.jpgIn about the time it will take you to read this post another high-rise building will go up in Shanghai, China. Located on the banks of the Yangtze River, Shanghai is the largest city in China and the eighth largest in the world. What was once a run-down port city with shacks and shanties is today …

Buenos Aires is like Paris only it isn’t in France

If I had a quid for every city in the world that was described as being the “Paris of XXX”, I would be a rich man. There can only be one Paris, of course, and that is Paris, Texas, a small town in the United States.

Even though the Paris comparisons can be a bit annoying, there is usually something to be said for a city that is compared favorably to the French capital.

Buenos Aires is one of those cities with the Paris nickname. It is either the Paris of the South or the Paris of South …
