A Crete Retreat that is Pretty Neat

crete.jpgHistory takes on a whole different meaning on the Greek island of Crete. The place was at the center of the Minoan civilization, the oldest civilization in Europe, which lasted from approximately 2600-1400 BC. While the island has all the modern amenities that you would expect from a popular tourist destination these days, you can’t escape history on Crete. It is everywhere and that is one of the many reasons the island is one that everyone should visit at least once.

Another reason to head to Crete is the climate. Simply put, the place is a wonder for those of us who enjoy the sun. Fortunately for the sun lovers of this world, Crete also offers some wonderful beaches and some world class resorts in which to dip your feet in the blue waters of the Mediterranean.

For all these reasons, the history, the climate, the beaches and the proximity to Europe, Crete sees more than its share of tourists. Don’t let this stop you from going, however. You just need to be wise about where you choose to stay. One wise choice would be to pick one of the properties offered by Simply Travel, particularly one of the ones located in the undeveloped far east of the island lies, which has the most wild and beautiful coastline.
