British Airways saves you money while letting you build your own holiday

plain sunsetYou wouldn’t really expect British Airways to be one of the better places to book a complicated holiday, but they’ve actually got a really useful tool for doing just that: British Airways Holidays

First off, they show you the cities they’ve got the best hotel deals in right in the top corner. Right now they can get you a hotel room in Orlando, Florida starting at 20 quid, and that’s the price per room, not per person. You can select your destination city and they pick your hotel, transfers, car hires, and sightseeing tours, all in one place. Quite a few sites are doing something similar, but they tend to be far more confusing. Fine work on this, British Airways.

Obviously BA can get you a pretty good deal on airfare to Rome or anywhere else they fly, but they also seem to have some pull within other parts of the travel industry. For example, you can book a flight and also one of the hotels in Toronto, they can afford to sell you both with only one commission, and the same is true if you book other things as part of the same trip. If you book each thing separately each company will take a separate commission, and usually that will add up to more. And we can be pretty certain BA won’t be going out of business tomorrow, or can we?
