The image that always comes to mind when I think of Milan, [1] Italy is one of beautiful people strolling down the streets like they are still on the fashion runway. They get to a corner, do a brief turn, and then carry on looking amazing while I stand there dressed in ripped denim. Milan is the party that I have never been invited to.

Fortunately the reality in Milan is much different than the one found in my imagination. I spent a couple of days there a few years ago and didn’t even change my clothes once. No one said a word. Maybe they couldn’t breathe while in close proximity to my undershorts or perhaps Milan is a bit more laid back than the fast paced fashion capital stereotype that we all know so well.

In either case, Milan is certainly worth a visit. It is a big city in every sense of the world and it does have plenty of beautiful and not so beautiful people to stare out while on the street. It also has the famous [2] Inter Milan football teams, some of the most amazing art museums in Italy, a vibrant university life, and lots of speeding cars that absolutely will not stop for you while you are crossing the street. Remember to look both ways!

You can [3] fly to Milan for cheap. Its proximity to Italy’s splendid north makes it a good jumping off point for an Italian holiday. Just remember to pack plenty of clean underwear.
