Great deals are still out there for late-summer holidays
This is actually one of the best times of the year to book a holiday because quite a few places have too many empty rooms, so competition to fill them really heats up:

Some of these packages are starting at prices so low that I would be suspicious if I didn’t know that greatlatedeals is a reputable company. Some of their cheapest packages are for Majorca and Egypt, and in some cases you have to fly out of Manchester to get the best price, but that’s going to be convenient for millions of people anyway because the London airports are all such a challenge most of the time.
With deals starting at £99, the Manchester airport parking is going to end up costing you as much as your 3-star hotel in Egypt. Can you imagine spending as much at a UK car park as you do for a comfortable hotel room? That’s one of the fun things about traveling, that you can often go to places where you money goes a long way. You might also take the Eurostar and check into one of the hostels in Paris, but everything else is so expensive when you get there that it’s hard to have fun. Sorry, France, but you’ve priced yourself out of the market for now.
