Passport Readers

By Bob   |   July 31st, 2006

With passport fees on the rise in the UK, it’s no surprise that the excess cost will also be used to pay for the increase in technology to read the new passports.

The ePassport Reader “scans and accesses data from radio frequency identification (RFID) chips embedded in biometric-enabled and other electronic travel documents” – aka, reads the technology side of the passports.

The machine reads the chip for tampering of information as well as logos, crests, laminates, ultraviolet images and other graphical patterns.

The ePassport Readers are already in numerous countries around the world. For more information see ePassport Readers.
