Lufthansa Flies to both Beijing and Peking

peking.jpgLoyal readers of this blog – thanks Mom, Dad – know that I have [1] a certain affection for Lufthansa’s Ready to Fly? program. Each week they magically send me an email update for great offers and each week I dutifully check it out. Today, I received an email with an offer for a round-trip ticket from Frankfurt to Beijing for 299 Euro. Quite a nice little deal. When I clicked on the message and went to the Lufthansa site, I couldn’t help but notice that they had the site listed as being to Peking.

How long ago was the name Peking replaced by Beijing? [2] Officially the switch took place in 1949 so you’d think that the airline might have adjusted its Web site way back when.

Regardless, this is [3] a killer deal on a flight to Peking, err Beijing, err that city in China that is the capital.
