Mauritius is Delicious for Travelers

mauritius.JPGSituated in the southwest of the Indian Ocean, Mauritius is a delightful island nation for those who visit it. Originally founded as a Dutch colony, Mauritius changed hands from the French to the British until 1968 when it became an independent country. Today, Mauritius has one of the most stable governments in Africa and has one of the continent’s strongest economies.

All of this is excellent news for travelers who are looking for a bit of adventure in a stable and wonderful place. Because of its diverse populace, Mauritius benefits from a number of different cultural influences. For example, the cuisine of Mauritius is a blend of Indian Cuisine, Creole, Chinese and European. It is not uncommon for a combination of cuisines to form part of the same meal.

As for the sites on the island, let’s just say that there are quite a few. You can experience the beauty of its beaches, the vibrancy of life in the city of Port Louis, the splendor of Black River Gorges National Park, and the amazing Chamarel Falls.

Flying to Mauritius is usually an expensive affair, but right now Air France is offering up some tasty rates on round-trip flights from London that should help you discover why Mauritius is so very delicious for those who are lucky enough to taste her nectar.
