Sun Spirit Guesthouse & Hostel – Book your bed
Sun Spirit Guesthouse and Hostel is a 3000 square foot building overlooking Johnstone Straight in Alert Bay, B.C. It is owned and operated by Midnight Sun Adventure Tours Inc. and serves as the base for a variety of unique eco and cultural tours in the surrounding area.
This cedar log building is a 21-bed pan-abode structure. It includes a well laid out kitchen and a large common area with arched, cedar ceilings. The common area contains a dining room, library, stereo, piano and woodstove. A wrap around sundeck overlooks the water.
Activities on and around the island include: kayaking, mountain biking, deep sea fishing, whale watching and grizzly bear watching tours to Knight Inlet, First Nations cultural and heritage walking tours, the U'Mista Cultural Centre, traditional dance performances, traditional salmon barbecue and a paddle in a traditional native cedar canoe.
Killer whale watching tours are very popular in the area as a domestic pod of killer whales numbering over 200 return to this area every summer from June to September to feed on the salmon in Johnstone Strait. Alert Bay is known as the "Home of the Killer Whale."
