Stray Possum Lodge Book your bed
Stray Possum Lodge is situated south of Tryphena township and only a few minutes drive from the main ferry terminal. Only two hours by boat - 30 minutes by air from Auckland and you can be in the ultimate wilderness escape that is Great Barrier Island
The cosy backpackers lodge and self contained chalets, dorm bunks, to doubles, to twins are set amongst native bush. Tent sites are also available near the lodge.
Facilities include large kitchen, outdoor dining area, bathrooms, laundry and on-ste bar/cafe known as the Possum Trap.
A free shuttle to and from the ferry or buy a Possum Pursuits Pass which gives you unlimited travel on the bus around the island as long as you stay at the Lodge.
There are actually no Possums at all on Great Barrier which is one of the reasons for the unspoilt native trees and plants that are the main feature of the Island. The grounds are completely surrounded by native forest and you will spot several species of birds such as Kaka, Tui and native Pigeon. We have several short walks which include stunning views of the Coromandel Peninsula.
Check availability at Stray Possum Lodge.
