Usually best to book to guarantee accommodation.

My mate Damian from Belfast. We clicked straightaway and stayed friends for the rest of my time in Australia.
- Why do you stay in hostels, as opposed to other types of accommodation?
Similar standard to many hotels, for much lower prices. Easier than finding rooms in flats, especially if stay is short. Easier to meet new people than in hotels.

- What is the biggest myth people have about hostels and hosteling?
That rooms are cramped and dirty (only true in the worst hostels).
- Why do you like to travel?
See the world, meet new people, and get a suntan.
- What is your advice for other travelers wanting to stay in hostels?
Book in advance and stay in a shared dorm (though no more than 4 sharing). Avoid the very cheap places as they are usually awful.
